It’s been almost two weeks since I returned from a month vacation in the US (NY, Chicago, Washington and Philadelphia). I went there to visit Erin, my girlfriend, who lived at the time in Mundelein, IL. Needless to say, I had an amazing time. The privilege of taking a the time off from my regular job (and my freelance clients) was something I couldn’t take for granted.
The USA was amazing. The size of everything (Coronet Pizza in NYC), the variety of every menu, every store; the kindness of strangers (Yes, even in NYC, the politeness there blew my mind time and time again)… Every business, if it’s an NBA stadium, a museum or a simple pizza place is well thought of in terms of experience (Medieval Times in Chicago and Bill’s Pizza in Mundelein especially). Beauty and Creativity were in every corner, and even though I was with a camera all the time, I know I didn’t even capture a bit of that. Having said that, here are some pics that I did take. More pics are in my Facebook album.
It’s also time to thank some people who made it great, by helping me feel at home across 3 different states: Thanks Carrie (and the parents), Laura and Alex, for letting us crash. Thanks Robin, you’re a cool mom. And last but definitely not least, thank you Erin, for being the best girlfriend ever :-*
I began this self initiated project last week. Bringing to life those beautiful satelite images from Google Maps.
I created 3 animated versions of these maps in this website: http://gidivigo.com/maps/
3 weeks ago (or something like that), my girlfriend Erin put some sticky gummy-like letters on my TV, spelling “I LOVE YOU”. I don’t watch TV, so I left it there. 5 days ago she wrote the same thing in Hebrew on an A4 page, and stuck it over the old paper. Today I wanted to watch TV.
For the second time, I had the chance to give a public presentation about Laaz (לעז), my website of Hebrew translations to (mostly) famous pop songs. It’s in Hebrew, so some of you will not understand, BUT if you skip to 9:30 or so, you will see me performing with the guitar 5 songs that users uploaded to laaz. Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Queen, and two songs by The Beatles.
Have fun
Update:
I made this into a web app: http://gidivigo.com/karate
It works on web, but obviously it reaches it’s full potential when vied on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). Follow the same link, or use this QR code:
